Jessica Jones, Danny Rand, Luke Cage and Matt Murdock, better known as the Defenders! Allan and Patrick break down the latest Marvel superhero ...mash up! A positive is that the show addresses some of the flack Marvel has received about the consequences of superheroes actions and that the chemistry between the team was great. On a negative note, Danny Rand. If you've seen it, you understand.
As the seasons begin to change and summer transforms into fall, we give you our last podcast of the summer! It may seem a little late, but let's be real. It's the Transformers...you know what we're going to say. Actually, we have a pretty good discussion on why we should love Transforms and look forward to the 'splosions of summer cinema!
Bobby Austin, Allan's son, joins us this episode and shares his thoughts on the what makes "Even More Mashed-Up" tick. Where were we wrong? Do Patrick's numbers matter? Why is Rich even here? Has Patrick ever listened to the show? How many Kirk's on motorcycles are too many for Allan? Join us on a meta journey into Mashed-Up Mayhem!
This week we bring you a double feature from depth farther than any cinephile should travel. In our "Ocean Motion" episode Allan and Patrick discuss the deep sea treasures Baywatch and Pirates of the Caribbean. To say that neither of these films has their sea legs is a waste of a good pun. Baywatch is often confused between trying to be a buddy cop film and making fun of itself; while Pirates is the fifth movie made about a Disney ride. Need we say more?
The DCEU may have finally done it. Wonder Woman, while it has some issues here and there, is the awe-inspiring, action filled, superhero film we want all superhero films to be. Patty Jenkins and Gal Gadot have made it clear that a female director directing a female-led story can not only work but work big. and maybe even save an entire cinematic universe. Poignant, funny, fierce and action packed, DC finally has a tick in the win column.
Unless you've been living under a rock...or a Groot, you know that the second installment of the Guardians franchise is in theaters. We dive into all that is Marvel and dissect the franchise's second helping. While Patrick loves the film (read - anything Marvel), Allan is left wanting more and has a lot of questions about violence, Quakers, immigration laws and other oddities. All of which Patrick has plenty of numbers for!
This week we threw out what little format we had and decided to have a bit of fun. Allan, Patrick, and the crew got out of the studio and headed over to a local tabletop and board game playing establishment, The Game Chateau. They go toe-to-toe with some local "Star Wars" fans in one of the hardest versions of trivial pursuit around. They laughed, Allan cried, there were leaders of men; a good time was had by all!
Back from the dead...and pitiful storytelling, "Gotham" has returned. Even though Allan has sworn off watching "Gotham" (after we killed it), we wanted to test his ability to pick out the poor storytelling options the writers have gone with. And trust us...there are plenty of them!
This week Allan and Patrick, somehow, fill the entire show discussing the trailers for "Thor: Ragnarok" and "Star Wars: The Last Jedi". Both trailers leave a lot a room for interpretation and what could happen, but also have audiences clamoring for more!
