Even More Mashed-Up

This episode we step back into the "Jurassic" world. The second film in the new Jurassic Park series finds us with a new problem. The island with the dinosaurs we created is going to explode and there's a debate surround what to do with the dinosaurs. We're joined by Rebecca Kivak and Tamera Dunn from the Times-Tribune as we discuss kid actors, clones, and who's really upset when bad guys die. 

As the summer rolls on, so do the blockbusters. This episode we take a look at the latest installment from the MCU, "Ant-Man and the Wasp". Marvel's latest flick gives us our first MCU film with a female character in the title and it was well worth the wait. Ant-Man and the Wasp is a great palette cleanser from the devastating event from Infinity War and Evangeline Lilly is amazing as the Wasp. This episode also features a new guest, Rebecca Kivak, movie and pop culture reviewer from the Times-Tribune Media group!

While the title may suggest great things, "Incredibles 2" seems to suffer from the sophomore slump. Audience and critics alike have rated the film very high, but most of those rating seem to based on nostalgia and the 14 years since we last saw the Parr family in action. Patrick loved the film and Allan is on the ropes. 

If you're looking for a fun heist film that is summer movie popcorn worthy, Ocean's 8 is for you. If you're looking for a liberating feminist film that firmly shows how far we've come in the Me Too era, well, you may have to wait until Ocean's 9 for that. While a good addition to the Ocean's franchise and having a good opening weekend, Ocean's 8 set us up for what should have been a great film with a great cast, and amazing female leads. Unfortunately, we get a good cookie cutter film that leaves you wanting more in the end. 

Solo - A Star Wars story no one asked for. While a fun space romp, Solo is nothing more than a summer popcorn flick. It answers questions we never asked and if you look just below the surface, it's pretty problematic. While it was fun seeing how the Millenium Falcon came into being, there's a lot to unpack about the roles Women and Droids (slaves) play in space. Come for the action and capes, but that's about it. 

This episode we take a stroll through the meta world of "Deadpool 2". While falling slightly short of it's box office predictions, Wade Wilson and what's left of his crew are still doing pretty well. We discuss good and bad of Marvel's bad boy, delve deep into why Fanny Pat expects so much from Deadpool, and how great the score and soundtrack are. Plus the usual numbers and fair or foul. Let's get ready to break that 4th wall!

Six seasons and a movie! This episode we leave the hallowed halls of Misericordia and head out to Greendale Community College! Patrick and Allan discuss some of their favorite episodes and what made Community such a good time. 

This episode we enter the world of "Ready Player One". While a great throwback and nostalgia-laced journey, much like the book, the film's ending doesn't really tackle the issues the plot raises. One could argue if anything, it makes the world a worse place to live in. Most of the characters are boring with little depth and are easily forgotten. Both Allan and Patrick feel that Speilberg has lost his ability to tell a story and just relies on stunning visuals to captivate the audience. 
 

 If you haven't seen the film, just move along. There are plenty of spoilers as Allan and Patrick dissect what's left of the MCU. They look back on their predictions and realize Rich beat Patrick; they also take a look at what this means for the MCU and what's coming next.
